This Mountain
This week we walked 53.48 miles and ended up near Skowhegan, ME…..they make New Balance Shoes there!! Cool!! We’ve walked a total of 156.92 miles and are 4.64% of the way across America. Oh and guess what…. I’ve lost a total of 9 pounds. Yay!! Gonna have to stop by the store and grab some food pantry donations!!
I just gotta tell on myself today. I can be such a greenhorn sometimes. I got settled into my morning routine….. Praying, reading scripture, and thanking God for the recent rain and today’s sunshine.
I opened up my Made to Crave notebook and found this week’s memory verse.
You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north. Deut 2:3
I literally sat there and asked myself, “Why on earth did Lysa pick this verse?”
See GREENHORN! Green must be my color today. Huh…. my pj’s are green!! Oh, sometimes I just amaze myself!!
There was that nudge again. God wanted me to answer my own question. So, I read Deuteronomy 1-2:3
Ahem….
Oh, now I see….
Clearly.
God’s people had not followed His directions–And as a punishment they were exiled. God put some distance between them and Himself. He gave them permission to “go on and do it your way.” Well, what the people discovered was that they needed God to survive and to get out of this mountain range. They were circling it…. think of it as a giant hamster wheel…. running as hard as you can but never getting anywhere.
So like good God’s people, they begged for mercy and forgiveness. They realized they needed God desperately. And He gave them a new direction to follow. Turn North. Follow Me.
This mountain of mine…. “Mount Gotta-eat” My hamster wheel of choice. I can’t climb it, conquer it, nor get around it without God’s direction and grace. Oh, it is most definitely time for me to stop circling this mountain and turn north.
God bless….
