Sun Don’t Move

As the alarm went off this morning, I slapped the snooze then settled into my morning routine of going over in my head all the things I needed to do today.  Laundry…pick up the house… wash more dishes..pack the picnic basket… drive to camp to pick up 13yo (this is the best part of the day, seeing my girl!)…picnic at the lake..By the time all the little details were listed the snooze time had run out.  Slap #2 and I continued into the weekend:  volunteering, church, laundry, laundry, laundry, cook, clean.. TIME’S UP!!  Slap #3 and I realize our vacation is coming up and school is about to start.  The endless list of things to do to get ready for a trip and school supply shopping begins to unfold in my mind..TIME’S UP AGAIN!!  Slap #4 and I begin to pray for extra arms and feet along with energy to pull this mountainous list off!!

My mind began to wander to the book of Joshua.  There was a battle going on and Joshua realized that their day was about to end.  He scanned the battle field just to see that there were more bad guys than daylight left.  So,  Joshua asked God to stop the sun from moving so the battle can be won.  God stopped the sun and added a few more hours plus a hailstorm that helped Joshua whoop the bad guys.

Oh man, how I wished that one a million times.  I am always catching myself wishing that I had more hours in the day.  HMMMM sounds like Joshua had the right idea, huh?  I wonder if God could suspend time for me to get my laundry done.  ((sigh)) God knows me too well, I’m afraid.  He knows if I had more time I would find ways to waste it.  Would I really get my laundry done?  I would probably call up a friend and catch a movie.  That sounds more appealing.  Or perhaps, even more appealing.. a nice long nap.  Who am I kidding???  I would probably just sit in front of the TV or surf on the internet just to veg out!

Joshua’s motive for asking the sun to stop is so much more than mine.  I can barely manage the 24 hours I have efficiently.  Why would I ask for more?  Sounds like I need to buckle down and get focused.  ((sigh)) Well, the snooze time is up, again.  Guess I better get up and start the laundry…I only have so much time before the sun goes down!

God Bless…
Regina
