God on Facebook

I enjoy my daily dose of Facebook.  I try to check it at least once a day to catch up with all my friends.  I never in my wildest dreams would think that God would use a simple tool like Facebook to change lives.  His grace was posted back on August 5, 2009.

A friend from high school found me.  She requested my friendship and I gladly accepted.  From that day on, we have been talking on a daily basis.  After a few weeks of communicating, she explained that she and her husband were looking to relocate.  They wanted to buy a home with plenty of land to move her parents next door.  Her parents health keeps her on the road and having them next door would solve a lot of trips to check on them.  They had not had any success.  Then I suggested our small community.  They took a gander at our lovely community, found a home, purchased it and moved in October to their new home.  The best part is that she lives less than a mile from me.

It was the weekend that they moved into their new home that her father passed away.  Heartbroken, I asked her new neighbors (people in my church family) to pray for her and her family.  At the funeral, she came up to me and hugged me.  ”I wish I was there when your mother died.” she cried.  Humbled, I just told her God placed her back in my life for a reason.  I am blessed that He had……

Months have passed.  A battle with the depressive aftermath of her father’s death is being won.  Attendance to a Bible study, Breaking Free by Beth Moore, is diving her back into God’s word, a place where she hasn’t been in a very long time.  Her son is enjoying and getting involved in our Youth group.  Then, just yesterday, she and her family joined our church.  The joy I felt burst within me.  Her heart is on the mend and she is such a blessing….she  will be a great blessing to our church family.

I praise God for my dear friend.  It was Him that led her back into my life.  It was Him that showed her the love of an old friendship….(God’s and mine)…. can be a blessing that will change lives forever.

Thank God for Facebook, a tool He can use to reconnect…..
