A Chill in the Air

Oh my goodness!! This morning I got up and felt the chill. We had slept with the window open and the temp dipped into the 30′s. I thought, “FINALLY!” Hubby quickly went to the coffee pot and poured a cup of joe for its warmth.

I love the cold. I love the thought of snow. It is my favorite time of the year. I think the best part is fuzzy socks, warm scarves and HOT CHOCOLATE!! During the season, hot chocolate is made on a daily basis around here.

So, I got to thinking….which is cheaper: Wal-Mart Cocoa Mix or Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix….Here’s what I found out….

Wal-Mart for 20 servings at $2.94 a can= 14 cents a cup of hot chocolate

Homemade:

2 cups dry milk= $1.40

1/2 cup Nesquick= $.32

1/2 cup Creamer=$.14

1/2 cup sugar=$.13

Total Cost of recipe: $1.99

Ironically, the homemade fills the Wal-Mart can so you are looking at $.09 a serving.

Well, folks, once again…homemade beats the Wal-Mart brand!!
